Offering an incredible view of the Šumava Mountains, educative and interactive stops, great adrenalin sports entertainment for children and the longest dry toboggan in the Czech Republic, all this and much more can be found in Lipno – The Lipno Treetop Walkway – a unique attraction in the whole country. The treetop walkway welcomed its first visitors on the 10th July 2012.
The view of the Lipno lake, the surrounding unspoilt nature and even the mountain tops of the Austrian Alps on a clear day will be your reward once you have climbed the steep winding footbridge.
Visitors can reach a height of 40 metres, with maximum incline ranging between 2 – 6 %. This unique 675-metre long wooden walkway ends with a 40-metre high observation tower and is open daily. The adventurous, yet safe, path on the footbridge is assured by a construction made of massive bonded lamella wood and 75 supporting columns. Wooden banisters and transparent side netting are a guarantee of perfect safety and an unforgettable view. The whole construction is gently incorporated into the surrounding nature.
The whole length of the path is barrier-free and adjusted not only for prams and pushchairs but also for people in wheelchairs. This construction thus completes the premises of Lipno Active Park and extends the offer of sports, educative and entertaining activities in Lipno.
Furthermore, the path comprises educational elements enriching your knowledge of nature, its protection and the function of forests. On your way you will find three entertainment stops with rope elements aimed at not only our youngest visitors, but also at those who stayed forever young and feel like having fun. These stops are situated at 24 metres above ground level.
And that´s not all! Another adventure is waiting for you: a 52-metre long dry toboggan with 24-metre super-elevation. The safety of riders is ensured by special mats which will enable you to adjust or reduce speed, if necessary. The toboggan can be used repeatedly without the necessity to walk through the whole length of the walkway. Just climb the winding staircase!
Transport to the walkway is available either by using a chairlift, our special treetop walkway bus, or on a tourist or cycling route. Downhill can be faster and more adventurous if you use the all-terrain scooter, which you can rent at the top and return at the bottom.
