The Vltava river passes through Šumava and Český Krumlov. You will find plenty of camps, food stands and restaurants along the way. You can admire Český Krumlov’s stunning architecture right from the water, which is by far one of the best ways to contemplate the town. Most crews start their rafting adventure on the river in Soumarský most or in Vyšší Brod. Canoes, rafts and all the necessary equipment are available for rent.
Most crews start their rafting adventure in Vyšší Brod, a little town situated near the Austrian border. From there you will begin the 35 km (21.5 miles) long journey to Český Krumlov. You can finish your trip there or you can go a little bit further down the way to Zlatá Koruna or Boršov nad Vltavou. There are plenty of camps and food stands along the way, where you can recharge your strength.
Don’t worry, rafting on the Vltava river is not dangerous and is suitable even for beginners. One of the most fun parts of the ride are the weirs, like the tricky “U Jelenní lávky” weir in Český Krumlov, where keeping yourself inside the raft as you pass through it is an adventure in itself. You can also admire Český Krumlov’s stunning architecture right from the water, which is by far one of the best ways to contemplate the town. You can spice up your rafting trip by visiting one or more of the remarkable historical landmarks of South Bohemia like the Rožmberk castle, Vyšší Brod monastery, Český Krumlov, Zlatá Koruna monastery or Dívčí kámen.
